N.Y.C.

It has been a while since the last update I know. I haven't even been that busy either. I have no excuse. Anyway here is the blog about my recent trip to New York. I can't believe that I have been home for a week already.
Day 1

Our flight left YYX at 8:10am, so that meant a 5am wake-up time and then the mad rush to Pearson. The flight lasted a little more than an hour but was very turbulent due to some storm cells in the New York area.

We landed at LaGuardia in Queens. I immediately thought of Good Fellas! We waited patiently in line for our baggage and then again for a cab. For those of you who have not been to NYC I will just fore warn you that the taxi rides are about the most terrifying experiences that you will ever have.

We checked in to our hotel, the Holiday Inn on west 57th between 9th and 10th. It was only a few blocks from Central Park and Times Square. Great location to say the least.

First destination on our list was to get lunch. We took the 5 or 10 minute walk to Times Square and found a corner booth at Bubba/Gump's Shrimp House. We had a terrific view of Times Square. At this time I would like to add that I had left my camera at the hotel, so unfortunately I have no pics of Day 1.

After lunch we walked up to the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). This is when I was really regretting leaving my camera behind. We spent the entire afternoon looking at fine art work. There were Picasso's, Dali's, Monet's and sculptures by Rodin just to name a few. It was absolutely breathtaking (is that one word or two?) to be standing only inches away from Starry Night. I will truly not forget that for the rest of my life. Other highlights were the enormous Water Lillies by Monet and the room full of Jackson Pollack paintings. Here are some photos I have from their web-site:

After many hours of culture the clan had decided it was time for a nap and then dinner. We found a nice little Italian place called Franks. The food there was much better than at Bubba/Gump's.

Day 2

I remembered my camera! The agenda for Day 2 was to walk up to the Museum of Natural History and then through Central Park to the Guggenheim. I was hoping to see the Dakota on our walk but I went past it without even noticing. Here are some photos of Day 2.

This is all of the bloggin' time that I have right now. I will continue with days 3 and 4 next time.

Until then...
